The Four R’s

No, I am not talking about the four R’s of decision making or the four R’s of recycling, but four R’s that represent key things you can be doing for yourself during this time of quarantine.  They are Reconnect, Recuperate, Reflect, and Read.  By taking advantage of this time to do these four things you can come out of this period energized and ready to conquer the world.  Let’s look at each of these four R’s.
Reconnect – This simply means to reconnect to your why and your goals and see if there are any changes that need to be made to your goals.  During our usual, busy day to day lives it easy to lose sight of these things and the daily motivation required to get there.  Take time to write these down if you haven’t already or read your most recent version to remember why you get out of bed every day.
Recuperate – This is a great time to get much needed rest.  That doesn’t mean sleeping in late every day, but rather doing the proper restorative exercises that many times are forgotten as we feel we don’t have time for them.  This includes meditation, yoga, stretching, etc.
Reflect – This is a great time to reflect on previous experiences from which you have learned or would like to improve on. This may be tournament rounds, school or work experiences, or social interactions.  Set aside time to reflect on how you want to show up in the world when things get back to normal.
Read – This is a great time to turn off the TV and read a book!  Reading has been proven to reduce stress and improve mental health all while making you smarter.  As shown by the photo above, the best player in the world is attributing much of his recent success to personal growth he has achieved through reading.
PRACTICE SMART!
