Own Your Process

What makes a great golfer great?  When we think about everything that the game demands of you to perform at a high level one can argue that it comes down to owning a set of processes. This includes processes for what, when, and how much to eat to pre-shot routines for different types of shots, and how to train and practice effectively to develop different types of skills. The list of processes is long and varied but all relevant.  The best take ownership and create consistency around the input to create consistency in the output.

What does it mean to own a process?  It means that you have developed something that supports you in creating an outcome. This process has been developed over time through trial and error down to the most nuanced adjustments to make it the exact thing that works for you, not something that follows theory or an ideal. I believe the most successful people engage in the development of these processes with a sustained energy, a rage to master mentality.  Then and only then can someone own a process and repeat it time and time again to create the desired outcome.

What does this mean for you? First, assess where you are with your own processes that support playing better golf. What are you doing well and what needs improvement? Which processes are missing altogether and which ones need more refinement? Then set an action plan and engage on a regular basis in these processes and you find that the results will take care of themselves
