Why is harder than it is..

Why is earning a low score in golf so challenging? Firstly, it requires sustained effort, and secondly, the
dynamic nature of golf means one faces different conditions and challenges with each shot or round.
Golf presents difficulties compounded by the expectations we set for ourselves. As we notice
improvement, our targets often shift; we may start with an acceptable score in mind but adjust it based
on our initial performance—whether good (starting with birdies) or bad (double bogey, bogey). This
tendency is prevalent among golfers, particularly during tournaments where consistency seems elusive.
We must remember the essence of golf lies in its challenges, in focusing solely on the current shot and
enjoying the process rather than being fixated on the outcome. Golf should be about appreciating the
outdoor experience and testing personal resilience against various conditions.
Golfers are encouraged to alleviate self-imposed pressure. Concentrate on honing your skills, take pride
in addressing weaknesses effectively, and avoid shortcuts as there are none in achieving true success.
Embrace discomfort during the game, release perfectionist expectations, and you will likely see
improvements in your scores.
