6 Weeks To Go

Last week, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow which means six more weeks of winter up here.  The bright side is that six weeks will go by fast and the golf season will be upon us.  Coming up with a game plan to get ready for the season and take some of the off season training, if you have been doing it, and converting that into skills for on course or just getting a plan to get moving for golf again can be very beneficial.

There are studies that show six weeks of training can yield tremendous results and, in this case, set you up for success this year on the golf course.  Not sure how to create a six week plan?

Here are some steps to take to get motivated and take action towards your best golf season yet.

1 – Write down your goals for the season. Ideally, following the SMART goals formula can help clarify what it is you want to accomplish this year.

2 – Identify specific areas for improvement. An assessment is the best way to do this so that you know how you are moving, areas for improvement in your golf skills, equipment needs, and what mental game strategies are best for you.

3 – Lastly, create a six week plan to be ready to play once the courses open up.

Just starting with these simple steps can be motivating and provide you with a framework to follow and commit to for the next six weeks.  When you don’t feel like practicing or going to the gym you can remind yourself that you have a plan to stick to and it will pay off later in the year.

Although you may not start the season with your best golf you will be ahead of the game and on the road to playing better when we reach mid season.
