It’s that time of year again! Yes, it’s time for Halloween, but it’s also time to evaluate your performance this season on the golf course. Most people are afraid of what they might find if they were to be thoroughly evaluated and would rather just continue doing what is comfortable. This is usually because they know that an evaluation may result in a plan that seems like an arduous process of discomfort and failure. This is one way to look at it, but wouldn’t it be better to see the evaluation process as the beginning of a journey of self-discovery and improvement.
Nobody is perfect including the best players in the world. Even after a great season the best players evaluate strengths and weaknesses to create a plan to improve. People who excel in any type of performing are willing to be evaluated over and over again until they get it right. The average person does not want to face any sort of scrutiny because they associate it with discomfort. This attitude is one of the fundamental differences between people who improve and people who struggle to do so.
What does this all mean? It means that you should review your playing statistics from this year and see where your strengths and weaknesses lie. Then look to have yourself evaluated by an expert, especially in your weak areas. Then it’s time to accept what is found in the evaluation process and understand the plan. The prescription will undoubtedly entail thousands of reps in various drills designed to improve the efficiency of the movement. You must be up to the task. I can assure you it will be more treat than trick!
Happy Halloween!
