Did You Stop Your Resolution Already?

It’s January 24th. If you’ve already abandoned your 2025 resolution, That must mean you’re LAZY, WEAK, and LACK DRIVE!

Now that I have your attention, you are most likely none of those, you simply choose a resolution that was too difficult for you to achieve. This gets me to the whole point of this article!

The Problem With Resolutions
By definition, a resolution is a firm decision to do or not do something. That’s it. No plan, no steps, no roadmap—just a decision. This is why many resolutions fail, especially in fitness.

Instead, focus on setting goals. A goal, by definition, is a desired result that includes a vision, plan, and commitment. Unlike resolutions, goals break big ambitions into manageable, actionable steps.

Ditch the Resolution—Start Goal-Setting
The key to achieving your goal is to make it a SMART Goal:

  • Specific: What exactly do you want to achieve?
  • Measurable: How will you track your progress?
  • Achievable: Is it realistic and within your abilities?
  • Relevant: Does this goal align with your priorities?
  • Time-Bound: When will you achieve it?

For example:

  • A resolution might be “I want to lose 50 pounds.”
  • A SMART goal would be “I want to lose 20 pounds in 6 months by exercising 3 times a week and eating balanced meals.”

Create a Plan
Once you have a SMART goal, you need a plan to achieve it. Let’s use the example of losing 20 pounds in 6 months:

  1. Start small: Eat slightly less at meals.
  2. Swap out refined carbs (like pasta) for veggies and fruits.
  3. Increase your protein intake.
  4. Add physical activity, such as cardio or strength training.

By making gradual changes, you’ll not only achieve your goal but also build sustainable habits that stick.

Mindset and Commitment Are Key
Achieving any goal requires focus, discipline, and effort. Sometimes, you just have to put your head down and get to work. By setting realistic goals, creating actionable steps, and staying consistent, you’ll see results—and they’ll last.

Goals breed Passion, Passion breeds Habits, Habits breed Lifestyle, Lifestyle breeds Systems:

If you have a goal that you truly believe in you will do research or reach out to a professional on strategies to complete the goal! Learning about it everyday will build a passion for it. This Passion, because you care so much about this goal, will breed habits. These habits will lock you in, you will be so focused on habits that will get you to your goal that it becomes part of your lifestyle. This new lifestyle, just created a new system for you to follow! That’s how you will make lasting changes and reach your goal!

This won’t be easy but once you’ve locked in your system it will become second nature! So, ditch the resolution and embrace goal-setting. This is the year you succeed!
