Earlier this week, Callaway released it’s much anticipated new drivers for 2021-Epic Speed, Epic Max & Epic Max LS. Callaway has had no shortage of success building drivers, in particular, since the introduction to the original Epic driver which launched their AI inspired “Jailbreak” technology. The new Epic line claims higher club speeds, higher ball speeds and more forgiveness, and who wouldn’t want that? Callaway improved on the Mavrik with a combination of new technology. The first is a new “Cyclone Aero Shape” design, which has a taller ribbon and flatter crown vs. the original Epic which creates lower drag and higher club head speed and ball speed, the new design is .8-1.5 mph faster than the Epic Flash. The next change is a new “Jailbreak AI Speed Frame” which strengthens the body in both the horizontal and vertical directions to increase ball speed. The last change is a newly designed crown, the advanced composite design saves 18 grams which allows them to redistribute that weight to add MOI, (+400 MOI). These changes are what’s providing the increase in club speed, ball speed and forgiveness. We are looking forward to testing this driver along with all the other new 2021 drivers!
