HELLO, I AM Jami L. DeSantis
Jami received her BA from Connecticut College, where she had a dual major in English and Classical Civilizations and completed the teacher certification program, and received her Connecticut teaching certification. She spent a number of years teaching English during which time she earned an MA in Curriculum and Teaching from Fairfield University and her 6th year in Education Leadership. She holds her CT Administrator’s Certificate. In 2014, Jami graduated from Columbia University with her EdM in Education Policy and Social Analysis. Her studies prompted her to pursue her law degree, and she graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law with her Juris Doctor in 2017. While in law school she continued to focus on education, researching legal education and student truancy policies. She completed a legislative internship evaluating the effectiveness of a state funded program to ‘close the gap’ in underperforming districts. Her work earned her the CALI Award for the Legislative Clerkship Clinic. Following law school, Jami worked briefly for Chubb, North America, before returning to the field of education. Jami has developed workshops for elementary, secondary and college faculty on topics related to teaching and served on several student and professional committees.
