Everyone likes to make nutrition complicated with so many fad diets out there! There’s Keto, Carnivore, Low Carb, High Carb, Intermittent Fasting, vegan or whatever diet is hot right now. How many of you have tried these and actually stuck with it for a substantial amount of time and actually felt good? I’m guessing that not a lot of you raised your hands!
We have the solution! When it comes to nutrition my philosophy is “keep it simple and sustainable”! To simplify it, the majority of a human’s diet should be foods from nature. Things like meats, fruits, vegetables, potatoes, rice, quinoa, pure maple syrup, local honey etc. Ask yourself “does this come from nature”, if the answer is yes, eat it! This should make up 80-90% of your diet and from good organic, local sources if possible. This will leave you feeling great and ready to perform in the gym and on the course! 10-20% of your diet can be filled up with man-made “fun” foods. So during the weekends you can incorporate that cupcake or those cookies you’ve been wanting all week. When eating these “fun” foods, make sure you don’t over indulge on any of these! So have one or two cookies and not the whole sleeve!
This style of eating will leave you with a ton of energy from foods that the body actually knows what to do with, without ever mentally feeling like you want to “cheat” on this diet! This is because you’re getting all the nutrients your body needs to perform at its optimal level from foods from nature! Try it out and let us know how you feel! As we know, the simple is hard so If need any help with how to optimize your nutrition make sure to reach out to me (kyle@thegolfperformancecenter.com or in person) and we can get you on the path to your goals this upcoming golf season!
