When it comes to drivers, the combinations of heads, shafts and lengths can be overwhelming. One of the most common discussions we have during our fitting experiences is about the length of the driver. When you buy a driver “off the rack” the manufacturer can make them as long as 46”. This number has increased over the last 10 years. This is simple math, longer club, longer shot. But is longer really better for you? On the worldwide stage, it is most common to go “under standard” length with the driver to gain back some control. You can think of players like Anthony Kim or Sergio Garcia who often choked down on the handle. Bryson DeChambeau goes the other way testing how long he can make his driver. Of course there are exceptions to every rule but have you ever experimented with a different length? At Custom Clubs we have a variety of different length options to match our many head options. So if you’re looking to enhance your “bomb game” this summer stop by The Golf Performance Center and check out our new Shaft Matrix at Custom Clubs!
